cactus cluster #2

This is one of my favorites. For years I have enjoyed one area of my family's ranch where there are what I call "cactus cities"...small clusters of cactus that rise and fall with the season. They are still a wonder to me.

San Angelo, Texas is fortunate to have the International Waterlily Collection. It is near my home and one of my go-to spots to take pictures during the golden hour. This is a gem with the bloom “catching” the evening sun. Love it!

Believe it or not, I captured the image of this bad-boy standing in the middle of my courtyard near Alpine, Texas. Aoudads are beautiful, majestic creatures native to North Africa. They were introduced to West Texas in the forties and roam wild. There is a group that come to "visit" me most every day!

This sweet thing in remote Mexico standing still in the middle of motion. I was hanging out between the train cars on El Chepe, windblown and covered in soot taking phographs. El Chepe is the train that goes through the Copper Canyon in the state of Chihuahua. You dive deep into the rural Mexican framework on this trip.

Oh boy! These giant cacti in Mexico are amazing. This one I found in El Fuerte, Sinaloa, Mexico. The red bloom in just the right spot makes the photograph.

Art in unexpected places. Several years ago my husband and I were driving through a small West Texas town when I spotted this cattle trailer with a "collection" of hubcaps. I HAD to take a picture. The only way to get to it was through a neighboring overgrown lot. Without hesitation I pulled on my snake boots and ventured out and shot what I needed. You gotta risk it to get the biscuit!

New years day 2015 we had ventured out on a very frozen day. It took us several hours to reach our friend's ranch sixty miles away. I think what I ended up with successfully harnessed the elements!!
